| Lithograph for "Erker-Treffen 4", pencil signed
| The lithograph of a rotating black spiral offered here was Uecker's artistic contribution to the 4th “Erker-Treffen” (Erker Meeting). The graphic is placed on a double sheet on the right, but takes up almost the entire space of the sheet. On the opposite left-hand side, a piece of German-language “concrete poetry” by the writer Eugen Gomringer was lithographed in his own handwriting. It begins and ends with the words “alles ruht” | “einzelnes bewegt sich” (everything rests | single things move) - and thus forms the ingenious continuation of Uecker's spiral with the means of poetry. Uecker has signed his lithograph in pencil at the bottom right. About the "Erker-Treffen" (Erker Meetings): From 1972 to 1987, four of the legendary "Erker-Treffen" took place, focusing on encounters between well-known contemporary artists and authors at the host Erker-Galerie in St. Gallen, Switzerland. Günther Uecker also took part in two of these meetings with two lithographs. The graphic works were each printed on a double sheet, with a work of prose or poetry lithographed in the author's own handwriting printed on the opposite side. These "tandem works" were published as limited edition portfolios and are sought-after collector's items today. | Technique: | Original lithograph printed in black | Sizes: | 38 x 56 cm (double sheet with vertical centerfold, as published) | Paper: | BFK Rives wove paper | Edition: | 200 signed and numbered copies on BFK Rives wove paper (with watermark); some artist's proofs marked "Epreuve" (for "proof") on the title page - such as the copy offered here. | Published by: | Erker Galerie Verlag Presse, Franz Larese and Jürg Janett, St. Gallen, Switzerland | Printed by: | Erker-Presse, St. Gallen, Switzerland | Documentation / References: | Dr. Dorothea und Martin van der Koelen.
