"Abraham and Sarah" In his first Bible cycle Marc Chagall also considered the archfathers or tribal fathers: here he shows us the stunned looking Abraham with his wife Sarah at the moment when the pregnancy promised by God seems to come true - Sarah will give birth to their son Isaac at the "biblical age" of 90. This is  N O T  a mass-produced restrike (photo or grano lithograph from a later "Limited edition") but the original lithograph for Chagalls "Bible I", exactly as referenced in Mourlots catalogue raisonné.   Edition: One of 6500 unsigned impressions for the book edition on strong velin paper.
