Details:

'Original Lithograph VI', untitled - Motif: Cat

Cat lovers will be very familiar with this sight: the pleasurable and extensive lolling before going on the tramp. The whiskers also speak for the fact that we are here dealing with one of Miró’s cats and not with, say a lying sphinx. However, the imagery of the Catalan artist did not make a difference between real existing people or animals and imaginary mythical creatures. Instead every form and every colour blended into a usually happy and cheerful whole. This graphic does not need a title. It will come to us automatically once we open up to Miró’s image language.

Description:
Original lithograph in colors (Mourlot no. 1042), 1975
Text on the reverse: "Joan Miró Original lithograph VI" (in different languages)

This is N O T a mass-produced reprint (photomechanical reproduction such as photo lithographs or giclée prints) but the original lithograph from 1975, exactly as referenced in the applicable catalogue raisonné.
Sizes: ca. 32 x 49,5 cm / 12.5" x 19.5" (sheet)
Edition / Paper: One of the unsigned impressions for the book edition on strong velin paper. In addition, 150 unsigned impressions on Rives wove paper as well as 80 pencil-signed and numbered impressions on Arches wove paper with wide margins were published.
Published by: Different publishers (e.g. Maeght, Paris, for the French edition)
Printed by: Mourlot, Paris
Remarks: This is one of the large pieces in landscape format and thus has the obligatory centerfold and little holes from the thread-stitching, which may bother some people. On the other hand, both the centerfold and the holes from the thread-stitching are important characteristics to be able to tell that this is an original lithograph and not a mere art print (reprint). Besides, framed in a passe-partout mount, both can be hidden very well.
Documentation / References: Cramer, Patrick. Joan Miró. Lithographe V, Maeght Éditeur, Paris, 1992, Weber Geneve, pages 145 and 153, no. 1042

Your print is being delivered with a proof of identity (without selling price in case it is intended as a present).

I bought this print at the same time as the "mouse admiring the moon" and they make a wonderful pair. Christine is a real expert and runs a great buisiness. These prints are extraordinary value and are beautifully presented. Thanks again.
